A rooftop wedding with a color-blocked design and personality to match

What. A. Wedding. I had the pleasure of kicking off the planning process with Shannon & Azim from the get-go. We toured venues, brainstormed ideas, met for coffees, discussed their preferences for a wedding…all the while, I was piecing together who they are as individuals and as a couple, which helped me to make the most-informed decisions on their behalf and provide the most well-suited vendor recommendations. The planning of this wedding was a true partnership, and I was honored to be a part of it!

Once we locked in on the venue of choice — the rooftop at the gorgeous Box House Hotel in Greenpoint, Brooklyn — the pieces started coming together from there.

Shannon & Azim wanted color, intimacy, quirkiness, an emphasis on family, and an epic dance floor. Let’s see if we achieved that, shall we?

On wedding day, the pair got ready at The Box House Hotel with their sisters and parents. Photographer Maria B Lung and videographer Luke Versalko captured the first look and intimate vows in the suite followed by couple’s and family photos around the trendy Greenpoint neighborhood.

Bride & Groom blow up figures — think car dealership — greeted guests as they arrived at the beautiful rooftop….kuddos to the couple for this detail that will forever go down on my list as one of the best funny wedding moments!

The ceremony kicked off just as the sun was setting below the Manhattan buildings in the distance, creating an incredible glow on the rooftop. Jillian Buckley officiated the personalized wedding while 45 Riots provided the music. Guests were then escorted to the bar for an intimate cocktail hour with signature cocktails AND mocktails.

The reception space came to life during a quick flip. Yellow Bow Florals brought some vibrant color to the floral palette and worked with me on my vision of a color-blocked table scape. The talented Lauren Nemchik also embraced this vision and created a seating chart, table numbers, and customized menus to carry the theme through! Hand dyed napkins in the same color scheme added the extra pop of color to really emphasize the theme. The little details can make a huge difference.

Guests were treated to an incredible family-style meal provided by the team at the Box House hotel prior to speeches and dances. Next came the dance floor. A glistening mirror ball, a robust lighting plan, and a fog machine were all part of the plan that we hitched together with Gala Productions to switch the vibe from day to night. 45 Riots did their thing and had guests singing and dancing until they were hoarse.

And that wasn’t it….everyone rallied for a second reception the following day at Royal Albert’s Palace in Edison New Jersey.

Much <3 for Shannon & Azim
